Who are ReVentas ?

At  ReVentas, we aim to be a leading part of the global movement to tackle plastic waste pollution. Our ground-breaking recycling technology tackles the most challenging waste plastic our society produces. By purifying this waste plastic of all contaminants, we allow it to go back into products as a virgin-like polymer, thereby closing the gap in the circular economy and allowing companies to access truly sustainable plastics.

ReVentas is a young and vibrant start-up with secure funding and big ambitions. If you would like to be part of a dynamic team working to develop the next generation of recycling technologies and make a real impact on society, you will find a home with us.

The role

Safe operation of the ReVentas Pilot Plant is essential for the overall success of our business. A dedicated Pilot Plant Manager is required to provide focussed technical expertise, strategic planning and leadership to safely deliver beneficial operation of the pilot plant, to generate design data and know-how for the first commercial plant and meet investor deadlines and deliverables.

You will both manage and be part of the pilot plant operating team, and will lead by example in running the plant e.g. on the control panel. As such, this is a hands-on role and much of the time will be actively running the pilot plant. You are therefore expected to understand all aspects of the Pilot Plant process, hardware and capability for processing different feedstocks.

To compliment the knowledge of the pilot plant operating team, you will liaise with the process engineering team on safety, engineering development and optimisation, and the lab team for input of their Chemistry experience of the process, feedstock behaviour and required product quality. The ideal candidate will have the ambition to develop into a higher management role as the company grows. If this sounds like the role for you then get in touch!

Qualifications

As an ideal candidate, you will have a degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry and have experience operating Pilot Plant and leading pilot plant trials.

Skills/ Experience

  • Be able to actively contribute to a Best in Class Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) culture, providing SHE leadership on Pilot Plant operation and modelling good time management to the team
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working on an R&D pilot plant or in an industrial setting, leading teams to deliver successful projects ideally in novel or cutting-edge fields
  • Experience collaborating with engineering/chemistry/ commercial teams
  • Polymer chemistry knowledge and/or previous work with solvents is beneficial

Duties/responsibilities

  • To lead the pilot plant team, sharing own expert knowledge and building a cohesive, delivery-focused team, coaching and developing colleagues and actively contributing to a culture of continuous capability development
  • To maintain consistent and documented compliance with all relevant SHE, quality and best practice requirements, for example ensuring compliance with the Management of Change process, ensuring relevant procedures are up-to-date and operational personnel are trained.
  • To keep up-to-date with developments in technological innovations / applications, ensuring implementation and application of new best practice and/ or knowledge particularly where it improves operational safety.
  • To utilise the whole ReVentas team to define and achieve the pilot plant programme deliverables, and ensure detailed plans exist to achieve these, anticipating potential issues.
  • To work with the wider ReVentas technical team to identify and drive the safe implementation of change that resolves any operational issues and/ or enables process and product improvements.
  • To set up, plan and execute pilot plant runs and analyse, interpret and report the results of these, obtaining Chemistry input into these plans and translating findings and knowledge into clear recommendations that are shared across the ReVentas business.
  • To ensure all pilot plant data generated is captured in a systematic format, with a focus on documenting data relevant to scale-up and process improvements
  • To respond to unanticipated upsets and programme deviations immediately, providing leadership and direction to keep overall programme on track.
  • To provide excellent 360 degree communication within the ReVentas business, immediately flagging any current and also possible future deviations and sharing responses and mitigation strategies; and to the Pilot Plant team to clearly communicate the goals of the business.
  • To clearly and authoritatively present ReVentas pilot plant technology to external visitors.

In return a salary of £35K – £50K depending on experience plus benefits package is on offer.
